His work on Wall Street includes a stint specializing in hedge funds and private equity partnerships for institutions and high net worth individuals. The flow of creative ideas from interactions with a diverse array of alternative investment managers, public and corporate pension funds and endowments, as well as wealthy individuals and their top advisors, have provided an understanding of some key principles of wise investing. For individuals, these fundamental principles include:
- Start by putting your financial house in order. Don’t skip this step!
- Avoid big losses in your investments.
- Take what the markets give you: Markets move from under-valuation to over-valuation and back again. Buy cheap, sell dear.
- Most importantly, compound your money.
Rick’s work with clients parallels a life-long interest in music: composing, arranging and performing. Whether it’s music or money, people remain his chief focus. As he says, “You write and perform for people. The same holds for financial advice. It’s not about crunching numbers. Whether it’s music or money, you learn your craft by study, practice and discipline; but you have to care about people to be good at what you do!”
After a 20-year career at large financial institutions, Rick, founded Lighthouse Wealth Management, LLC, a wealth management firm with clients in the U.S. and overseas. He focuses his time and energy for the benefit of the firm’s private clients. In addition to his business and professional pursuits, Rick continues to be active in Church and community activities, including service as founding board member of the Bronx Conservatory of Music as well as current Trustee of Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia.
